[Interview] A Daily Game of Chess

At ReachMobi we’re constantly solving puzzles. Content Studio Team Lead, Nick Cherevko, helps guide his team through new challenges every day. Check out our recent interview and learn about the day and life of a Content Studio Leader.

Tell me a little about your position and what you do on a day-to-day basis:

Hi guys, Nick Cherevko here. I am a Content Studio Team Lead. On a daily basis, I help the News team tackle different puzzling problems and streamline different processes as we try to grow and scale the business. Having a background in Business Intelligence and Analytics, my main responsibilities lie in evaluating different tests and being able to quickly recognize wins and losses and use the learnings to our advantage as we develop the best Android apps out there.

What do you like best about your job?

I like the fact that every single day there are different challenges and you must always be able to think on your feet. It’s a real-life chess game where you know what the end goal is but there are thousands of different ways to get there. As you grow and learn, you become better at recognizing the next move.

Are there any challenges in your job? If so, how do you handle them?

There are many challenges in this job, mainly revolving around organizing all the collective skills needed to keep the momentum moving. All of us possess a different set of skills and a different personality. The toughest part is being able to recognize those and have a different approach to each person.

Reflect from Day One to now:

This has been a huge learning experience for me, and I feel like in the last year I learned more than I did in the last 5 years prior to that. Long days of trying to figure out things have helped me to be more organized and able to problem solve any issue at work and even in life.

How did your education or past experiences prepare you for this job?

No matter the level of education, a lot of the lessons are learned by emerging yourself in a project, a skill, or an industry and having the curiosity and discipline to learn and accomplish a specific goal. I worked in a few big companies and skills like leadership, resourcefulness, perseverance, and communication are more important than being able to program your brain to do one mechanical task.

What advice would you give someone who is seeking the same line of work?

This line of work is super interesting and always keeps you engaged. At this job, you’ll never be bored because there is always something new you can learn. If you like a fast-paced environment and pretty cool co-workers, this is the job for you.
